CONSENT AGREEMENT FOR FINANCIAL COACHING

The Coach and the Parent(s) enter into this contract voluntarily.

A. Role of the co-parent coach: The client(s) understand that the coach’s role is to facilitate confidential conversations which explore the goals, beliefs, thoughts, feelings and action steps associated with desired financial outcomes. The client(s) and coach work together to co-create the steps each person chooses to take to effectively reach financial empowerment. The coach is not serving in the role of a financial planner, does not investigate past financial decisions independently, and does not impose any financial decisions for the clients. Rather, the coach is a guide and inspiration for uncovering limiting patterns, creating effective interactional patterns between personals mutually involved in financial decisions, and aligning desired goals with action steps for

The coach will provide:

  • welcoming setting for structured conversation
  • facilitation of interest-based conversations
  • mediation at the request of the clients for the purpose of reducing conflict
  • education about financial terminology and best practices for minimizing tax impact and maximizing financial growth
  • communication skill-building for money conversations
  • support for stress-management and self-care

The coach will listen carefully, ask key questions and give insightful feedback that promotes the awareness and skills necessary for successful implementation of positive financial outcomes. The coach is not serving in the role of a therapist or social worker. The Counselor, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist Board does not oversee the services provided. If the coach determines that psychotherapeutic interventions would be helpful for the parent(s), the coach will make a referral to an appropriate therapist or terminate the financial coach consent agreement.

The financial coach holds no liability for any outcomes or consequences resulting from the coaching process or terms of any financial agreements made between the clients.

As an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coach, the coach is bound by the ICF code of ethics, including confidentiality. All information shared by the client during this agreement will be kept strictly confidential and will not be shared explicit written permission by the cient.

B. Role of the client(s): The client(s) understand that the client(s)’ role is to answer the coach’s questions as completely and honestly as possible, to engage to the fullest extent possible in the coaching process, to follow through with the positive strategies to the best of the parent(s)’ ability, and to give feedback to the coach as completely and honestly as possible regarding the coaching process and the implementation of the selected strategies.

C. Collaboration between coach and client(s): The client(s) understand that coaching is a collaborative process in which the coach and the client(s) work together to co-create the client(s)’ goals for reaching desired financial outcomes, for communication, and for the coaching process.

2. POLICIES

A. Appointments: Appointments with the coach shall be scheduled at the direction of the coach or by request of the client(s) by phone, by email or in person. Coaching sessions may take place in person, over the zoom platform or by telephone. Standard appointments are 60 minutes in length, and the client(s) may request additional time over zoom, phone or by email which are subject to additional fees.

B. Communication: The client(s) may contact the coach by telephone, email or text message. The coach will make every effort to respond within 2 business days. Recording of calls or coaching sessions are not permitted without the written consent of the coach.

C. Confidentiality: Any sharing of information between the coach and any other party requires an authorization form signed by the client(s) giving written permission for a release of information. All communications between the coach and the client(s) will be private and confidential unless a release of information has been signed and submitted to the coach for the purposes of communicating with other parties. Your coach may require a release of information as authorization to speak with other service providers such as a financial planner, attorney, or therapist.

D. Cancelled or missed appointments: The parent(s) shall pay in full for any cancelled or missed appointments unless 24-hour cancellation notice is given.

E. Termination: The client(s) may terminate services at any time.  The coach may terminate services at any time including but not limited to the following reasons: lack of progress, inappropriate behavior, or lack of payment for services. Termination does not indicate an agreement to refund payment for a financial coaching package or an individual session.

3. FEES

The client(s) shall pay a one-time fee of $1800 for a financial coaching package. Payments may be made in installments as arranged by the coach and client.

The package includes:

  • Two initial one-hour coaching sessions to create
  • Lifetime access to library of educational videos and other resources
  • Lifetime access to personalized education resources
  • Workbook for client exercises designed to enhance the coaching process
  • Three hours of financial coaching for the purpose of aligning goals and action steps
  • Up to 60 minutes of between-session telephone support (e.g. four 15-min phone calls)
  • Lifetime subscription to the Orion Planning Platform*
  • One hour of education on personalized use of Orion software
  • Two hours of follow-up coaching withing the first 12 months
  • Additional on-going sessions available on an hourly-fee basis

4. DISCLOSURE

Confidentiality is a high priority; however, there are specific situations where legal or ethical requirements indicate that information may be reported to proper authorities without consent to ensure your safety and the safety of others. These situations include disclosures of child abuse or neglect; the abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a disabled or elderly adult; a clear intention to harm yourself or others, or animal abuse.
